My work is abstract & expressionistic; each painting is a response to the way I feel, both physically & emotionally. Colour is a major inspiration for the work. Colour stops me in the street, invites me to breathe it in & take it with me. Colours resurface as I paint, as do past & present experiences. I am able to manipulate the colour & present moods, from initial gestural marks into a balanced composition. Although I draw from life I am not content with recognisable imagery. I prefer a more ambiguous picture plane, a surface on which the viewer can project their own experience, enabling them to come to a personal conclusion about what my work represents to them
